Found in northeastern Tanzania, the Usambara Mountains rise to over 2000 metres above sea level, making up the easternmost ranges of the Eastern Arc Mountains. The combination of the high altitude, cool climate and fertile soils once attracted numerous colonial settlers. The mountains are blanketed in untouched tropical rainforest and dotted with quaint mountain villages.
