Usambara Mountains

Found in northeastern Tanzania, the Usambara Mountains rise to over 2000 metres above sea level, making up the easternmost ranges of the Eastern Arc Mountains. The combination of the high altitude, cool climate and fertile soils once attracted numerous colonial settlers. The mountains are blanketed in untouched tropical rainforest and dotted with quaint mountain villages. This beautiful area, which is recognised for its incredible biodiversity, provides ideal hiking country. While the main attraction is the many colonial relics and historical sites, this spectacularly scenic area offers a variety of activities including hiking, bird watching, and mountain biking. Other highlights include: the bustling markets and the breathtakingly beautiful views.
